The UCLA Medical Center provides you and your family with medical, dental, and vision insurance at no cost to you. In addition, life and long-term disability insurance is provided to UCLA House Staff Residents at no cost.
4 weeks (28 days) per year.
Residents are provided $1000 per month, paid as wages and subject to withholdings (ie taxes).
The Ophthalmology Residency Office provides each Housestaff with $3,000 per year to use towards meals in cafeterias at UCLA and Santa Monica. Meals are also provided at Harbor Medical Center and Olive-View Medical Center.
Residents at the WLAVA may order up to $25 per day in food from UCLA Uber Eats account.
Residents/Fellows have access to an App-based meal delivery service available for use at select hospital rotation sites.
Dinners and lunches are provided at all educational events.
Residents are provided with:
Educational Stipend: $1200 year for all PGY levels (paid out as salary)
Relocation Reimbursement: Newly appointed Residents receive up to $2,750 in reimbursement for expenses incurred due to relocation. Subject to the University’s Travel and Relocation Policy.
License Reimbursement: Covers initial License and renewal fee, USMLE Step 3 fee

UCLA Recreation memberships are an exceptional value! For approximately $17 per month you have access to the following: John Wooden Center (including the new Strength and Conditioning Zone), Sunset Canyon Recreation Center, Student Activities Center, UCLA Marina Aquatic Center, 24 Tennis Courts, Open Recreation Activities, Recreation Playing Fields, Drake Track Stadium, Outdoor Adventure Center, Rock Wall, 4 Campus Pools, Sycamore Golf Practice Area, FIT PASS (to all drop-in fitness classes).
The resident lounge, located on the top floor of the Jules Stein building: contains computers, couches, a ping pong table, Nintendo Wii and a massage chair. Adjoining spaces house a lactation room, call room, lockers, and an EyeSi simulator.
On a clear day, the Pacific ocean can be glimpsed from the windows.
